Fury

WARNING: SPOILER ALERT! DO NOT read this if you don't want to know that everyone dies at the end.

Fury is the new David Ayer film starring the imaginary friend from Fight Club, the Transformers kid, Shane from The Walking Dead, and some other folks. The film is about a crew of Sherman tank operators in the heart of Germany during WWII. It's a good movie, but I must clarify that this isn't a review. I'm writing this because I noticed something about the story, a strange familiarity that I couldn't put my finger on until the ending. And then it came to me; the characters in Fury are nothing more than recycled characters from the 1998 film Saving Private Ryan. Don't believe me??? Let's put the characters from each film head-to-head and we'll see who's better! So without any further ado, I present...

FURY VS. SAVING PRIVATE RYAN

Here are the facts:

A cozy-eyed rookie joins a gang of war tattered roughnecks on a daring mission that involves killing some Nazis.

Led by an A-list actor.

There's the religious guy who's a master at his weapon and kills a lot.

And the unpredictable loose cannon who's the first one to die.

In the final act, the group takes their last stand defending an intersection/bridge against waves of Nazis. Despite their most valiant efforts, they all die except for the cozy-eyed rookie who by now has come to terms with cold hearted killing.

So there you have it. Those are the facts. (Sorry I gave away the ending to Saving Private Ryan). The two movies are practically twins! Some chap took the script to Saving Private Ryan and just added a tank. There is literally no difference between these two movies. If you go to the cinema house to watch Fury, you'll think to yourself "Dang it! Where the heck is Tom Hanks?!?!". No. You won't think that. Actually the two movies are quite different. They're the same but different. Anyways, whatever.

AND THE WINNER IS...
